16-26 March 2006. The Haus der Berliner Festspiele presents this festival of contemporary music, now in its fifth year. Offering over 30 music projects, MaerzMusik 2006 includes four new musical theatre productions, chamber concerts, solo recitals, four orchestral works, exhibitions, multi media performances and the Sonic Arts Lounge at the Festspiele. Two thematic strands link the events in this years programme: Japan and the West and Interkulturality. MaerzMusik also hosts an intercultural workshop entitled Global Interplay with participants and instructors from five continents. One of the festival highlights is the first complete performance of the Ragas from John Cages Songbooks performed by Dhrupad singer Amelia Cuni. Festival events and exhibitions take place in 11 different venues round Berlin, including Gelbe Musik, Hamburger Bahnhof, Haus der Kulturen der Welt and the Konzerthaus Berlin.
