27 Jan-5 Dec 2006. The historic surroundings of Oxfords Sheldonian Theatre provide a fitting setting for the Oxford Philomusica Mainly Mozart Festival 2006. Celebrating Wolfgang Amadeus Mozarts 250th birthday, the year-long series of concerts features Mozarts piano concertos, the piano sonatas and the concertos for piano and violin. Directed by Oxford Philomusicas Musical Director, Marios Papadopoulos, the festival will present all 21 piano concertos in seven concerts, some of which will feature newly commissioned cadenzas by students from Oxford Universitys Faculty of Music. Melvyn Tan, Mayumi Fujikawa and Michael Roll will play the 18 piano sonatas and the 17 sonatas for violin and piano respectively. There will also be a performance of The Magic Flute on 9 March. The final concert will see a performance of Mozarts Requiem. Other occasional venues for the series include the Jacqueline du Pr Music Building, the OReilly Theatre, and the Holywell Music Room. Admission 37, 26, 17.50 & 10.
