2 March-28 May 2007. The distinctive clean lines and strong colours of Marimekko fabrics and designs are the focus of this exhibition at the Danish Museum of Art and Design. Founded by Finnish designer Armi Ratia and her husband Viljo in 1951, when Armi asked some artist friends to apply their graphic designs to textiles, the Marimekko company then created a line of simple dresses to show how the fabrics could be used. Contributing to the revolution in modern textiles during the 1950s and 1960s, by 1965 Marimekko had become a byword in fine design for everything from fabrics to children
