15-18 March 2006. La Cit de la Musique hosts a melting pot of jazz sounds with five different concerts over four days. First up is the acclaimed Art Ensemble of Chicago performing a concert entitled Great Black Music with Famoudou Don Moye conducting and playing percussion. On 16 March, Richard Galliano on accordino, Gary Burton on vibraphone, James Genus on double bass and Clarence Penn on percussion perform Jazz New Tango. Mediterranean Jazz is featured on 17 March, when the sounds of the piano and the accordion are fused with the strains of the oud a Middle-Eastern lute - played by Anouar Brahem. The Big Band of the Conservatoire de Paris are in concert on 18 March at 11.00. Admission to this concert is 8. The final night sees world famous musicians Dave Holland on double bass and Trilok Gurtu on percussion in a concert entitled Raga Jazz. Admission 28-22.
