5 Nov 2005. 43 of Amsterdams museums are throwing open their doors from 19.00 in the evening to 2.00 the following morning for this once-yearly event. Current and permanent exhibitions are on show alongside special attractions and spectacular presentations for example, at the Foam Photograph Gallery, MTV will be providing the music for dancing amidst the exhibits, while the Historical Museum hosts a performance of sea-shanty singing. At the Van Gogh Museum there will be poetry, music, fashion and workshops around the theme of animals in conjunction with their current exhibition Artists and Animals in the Industrial Era.

Museums and galleries participating in the Amsterdam Museum Night can be easily identified by the beams of light illuminating the air around them. A Museum Night pass gives the visitor access to all the museums taking part and is valid throughout the whole night. Pass holders will also have free transport on the museum boat, historic trams and buses with a direct connection to the museums.
