Music Film Festival at the Rathausplatz

Vienna's City Hall Square, or Rathausplatz, hosts a summer festival of music films featuring concerts from opera to pop, with free admission every evening.

The programme covers every genre and is shown on a large open-air screen. Opera enthusiasts can enjoy Puccini's La Bohème, Donizetti's L’Elisir d’Amore, and Verdi's Rigoletto broadcast live from the Vienna State Opera, while a highlight for fans of classical music will be a showing of the 2015 New Year's Concert by the Vienna Philharmonic, conducted by Zubin Mehta.

There are also recordings of concerts by Eric Clapton, Celine Dion, Elton John, Frank Sinatra, Pink Floyd, Queen, Bob Marley and Elvis Presley, who would have celebrated his 80th birthday this year.
