15 Oct 2008-5 Jan 2009. This major retrospective is dedicated to the American artist Nancy Spero, a radical pioneer of feminist art in terms of creative output and political discourse. On display are 178 works organized chronologically, which range from Spero's her first unpublished works, created when she was a student at the Art Institute of Chicago in the 1960s, to her most recent installation, presented at the 2007 Venice Bienniale. In her work Spero testifies her social and cultural commitment and expresses her critical view of the contemporary political situation. Her art depicts the corruption of power, sexual violence, social injustices and the atrocity of war from a feminist point of view.
