Each summer the Oberbaum Bridge (Oberbaumbrcke) that spans the River Spree in Berlin's Friedrichshain district is twice closed off and transformed into an amazing open-air art gallery for the day. Artists from Berlin and across, some 100 of them, show their paintings, sketches, tapestries sculptures and more along the bridge, exhibiting their work to thousands of visitors every year. As well as selling their artworks, artists are usually more than happy to discuss their work with however takes an interest. The bi-annual event is supported by the Kreuzberg district council and the Knstleriniative East Side Gallery in the aim of improving the quality of life in the River Spree area.
