Of Gold and Fire: Art in Slovakia at the end of the Middle Ages
16 September-10 January 2011. Bringing together more than 60 sculptures, this exhibition of paintings and gold objects represents a little-known-about stronghold of mediaeval European art.
The first comprehensive display outside Slovakia of the country's art from the end of the Middle Ages, the 15th-century works on show are on loan from the country's museums, churches and private collections.
Showcasing a rich and artistic period from Slovakia's history, the exhibition contains carved and painted altarpieces, gold treasure and manuscripts.
