30 June - 2 July 2009. Ommegang is unique. A three day event transports visitors back in time to a mediaeval village in the year 1549. 1400 actors and musicians will re-enact an important pageant in Brussels: the visit of the ruler of the Holy Roman Empire and King of Spain, Charles V, and his royal entourage. Folklore, catapults and fighting knights combine to make this an enjoyable historical and theatrical event.

Directed by Gilles Daoust, this well-established free event will take place at its host venue, the Place du Grand Salon. Music composed by Ernst W. Meinrath will be performed by tenor Sebastien Romignon and is accompanied by commentary in both French and Flemish.
