Pale Peko Bantu Mambo Ayi Kosake (Wherever There Are People, Problems Are Never Lacking) is a remarkable film offering an insight into the vicious and exploitative world inhabited by 'creuseurs' - freelance cobalt miners in the province of Katanga in the Congo. Isaac, one of the miners, narrates this gritty, up-close tale of the struggle these men endure on a daily basis. It examines their working and living conditions, the fluctuating price of cobalt, their lack of protection or rights and the dangerous game that is smuggling. Immediately evident is the rapport and friendship fostered between Van Paesschen and the heroes of his story.
