14 Sept-19 Dec 2006. International theatre, music, dance, plastic arts and cinema are on offer at venues across the French capital during the 35th edition of the Paris Autumn Festival. Exhibition highlights include the work of New York-based photographer Ryan McGinley at the agnes b. Galerie du jour (28 Oct-2 Dec), while the packed theatre programme includes Quartett by Heiner Mller starring Isabelle Huppert (until 2 Dec), Dead Set #2 by Caden Manson and The Big Art Group (17-21 Oct), the Wooster Group with Hamlet (4-10 Nov) and the latest creation from Societas Raffaello Sanzio, Hey girl! (16-25 Nov). Dance and music events include seven dancer/choreographers performing O,O created by New York choreographer Deborah Hay (26-28 Oct) and the SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart, featuring Hiromi Kikuchi on violin playing music by Gyrgy Kurtg and Heinz Holliger (6 Nov). A retrospective of films by Afro-American independent filmmaker Charles Burnett, entitled The Outsider, features a post-screening talk with Toni Morrison and Burnett himself (23-25 Nov). The festival closes with a gala concert at Opra Bastille, with music by Maurice Ravel, Alexandre Scriabine and George Benjamin performed by the Orchestre de lOpra national de Paris directed by George Benjamin (19 Dec).
