The Martin Gropius Bau in Berlin joins cultural venues in Barcelona, Paris and Rome in celebrating the Italian film director, poet, writer and intellectual Pier Paolo Pasolini (1922-1975).
A controversial figure, Pasolini's political views earned him many enemies but since his tragic murder nearly 40 years ago he has become regarded as a visionary thinker and a major figure in the Italian arts. Pasolini had an intense relationship with his adopted Rome which he loved and hated, and which played such a central role in many of his movies.
The exhibition is organised chronologically into six sections, from the writer's arrival in Rome in 1950 until the night of his death at Ostia in 1975.
It includes the places where he lived and filmed his movies; his poetry, drawings and paintings; and his films, friends and private life.
Wed-Mon 10.00-20.00. Tues closed.
