Philippe Parreno at the Centre Pompidou
3 June - 7 September 2009. The Centre Pompidou hosts a retrospective of Philippe Parreno's work. Working closely with the gallery, the artist has come up with a "journey through time," a self analytical appraisal of his own work. Presented in three elements, the main exhibition is accompanied by a series of special events for young people and there is a comprehensive catalogue included in the show. Parreno makes studies of key dates including 1968 when Robert Kennedy was assasinated, 1977 when the Centre Pompidou opened and 1993, the year the artist launched his 'Speech Bubbles'. Parreno invites visiting children to develop a series of performances inspired by his past work.
The exhibition takes place in the Centre Pompidou's glass-walled Galerie Sud.
