The Museo Nacional del Prado displays a Pablo Picasso masterpiece: Acrobat on a Ball. Completed in 1905, the canvas is regarded as one of the greatest works from Picasso's rose period, when the artist moved towards a lighter palette and a more limited range of colours. He also focused on issues of form and volume - in this painting's case the contrast between the graceful female acrobat and the bulk of the male athlete.

The work is on loan from the permanent collection of the Pushkin Museum in Moscow.
