26 March - 14 June 2009. A colloborative project between La Casa Encendia and New York's Museum of Modern Art entitled "Portraits of New York" offers visitors to Madrid a chance to admire 100 photographs, the work of more than 90 of America's most lauded photographers. The subject is the iconic city of New York in its vibrant but tough urban glory. The photographers' names are of the household variety - Irving Penn, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Cindy Sherman, for example. Curated by Sarah Hermanson Meister, the exhibition also includes an overview of the history of photography. Admission is free.
