1-3 Sept 2005. Following on from the Gardens Plant Power festival, which explored the world of plants and how we use them, Oxford Contemporary Music presents a sound-and-light event entitled Power Plant, in collaboration with the Oxford University Botanical Gardens. For three consecutive nights the gardens will come alive with installations and weird and wonderful constructions in and around the walled garden, water garden and glasshouses. Installation artist Mark Anderson has been commissioned to create a magical musical and visual night-time environment in the unique setting of these historic botanical gardens, the oldest in Great Britain. Anderson brings a wealth of experience in creating site-specific events in unusual locations to the Power Plant 3-day happening. Contemporary art will meet historic botanic craft with pyrotechnics, sophisticated lighting technology and musical innovation in the centuries-old garden.
