12-16 Sept 2006. Sarah Lewis directs the stage version of Salome by renowned American playwright and author Charles L. Mee at The Friends of the Italian Opera English Theatre. Originally created for a solo performer, with dance and text that take the Biblical Salome into a modern world of sexual transgression and murder, this version features three actresses, Priscilla Be, Marianne Graffam and Lisa Marie Beck, who embody the archetypes of femme fragile, femme fatale and chthonian or vampire-like characteristics. Mees original work has been altered, adding dialogue, extra text, music and movement to create a complex portrait of Salomes sexuality, violence and femininity. Lighting and sound design by Ralf Arndt. Admission 14, concessions 8. Performances daily at 20.00.
