Secret Images: Picasso and Japanese Erotic Prints

5 November 2009 - 14 February 2010. This exhibition comprises a collection of prints and sketches with erotic themes made by Picasso in the latter stage of his career between 1964 and 1970. Also included is a collection of 19th century Japanese erotic prints that draws parallels with Picasso's work. Japanese prints of this nature (so-called 'secret images) have been known by various names over the centuries, such as 'shunga', 'makura-e' and 'warai-e'. The Museu Picasso de Barcelona presents for the first time a collection of these prints owned by Picasso.
