The Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin presents a series of six exhibitions, all beginning on 11 January.
Blackshaw at 80. 11 Jan-24 Feb. A major retrospective dedicated to Basil Blackshaw on the occasion of his 80th birthday features over 50 paintings chosen by the renowned Northern Irish artist from throughout his career.
Richter and Polke, Works on Paper from the Kunstmuseen Krefeld. 11 Jan-24 Feb. The exhibition includes some 30 prints, watercolours and gouaches by Germany's Gerhard Richter - one of the world's top-selling living artists; and German artist and photographer Sigmar Polke (1941-2010) from the collection of the Kunstmuseen Krefeld, Germany.
Zineb Sedira & Amina Menia, Becoming Independent. 11 Jan-24 Feb. Both artists are of Algerian heritage and, in very distinctive ways, both have created individual installations in response to the fragility of history and identity in the context of contemporary Algeria.
Justin Larkin, Scenery. 11 Jan-24 Feb. Emerging Irish artist whose paintings contain familiar subject matter repositioned in dramatic new situations, often in a humourous context.
Vivienne Roche RHA, Spirit and Light. 11 Jan-28 April. Roche is one of Ireland's foremost sculptors and her exhibition in the RHA atrium comprises three suites of work: Monuments; Sunlines; and Well-Water Font/Sea-Water Font.
Anita Groener, State. 11 Jan-28 April. This drawing installation was conceived especially for the RHA foyer by the Dublin-based Dutch artist whose practice incorporates paintings, monumental site-specific wall drawings, film and animation.
