2-4 Feb 2007. Hosted by the Barbican Centre, Soul Britannia explores the British love affair with black music over the last 50 years. Opening with a concert by R & B - funk specialists, The Brand New Heavies, the evening also features guest stars N'Dea Davenport, Omar, Jazzie B and Mica Paris (2 Feb). The cream of British soul & funk musicians and vocalists, including Madeline Bell, Carol Grimes, Hamish Stuart, Linda Lewis, Root Jackson plus members of Cymande, Gonzalez & Kokomo perform live on stage for the Soul Britannia Allstars concert (3 Feb) with an opening set from Queens of Lovers Rock, Janet Kay & Carroll Thompson. Soul legends Geno Washington and Jimmy James headline in the Transatlantic Soul Connection (4 Feb) alongside former Animals
