10 Nov 2006. One of Britains favourite contemporary poets, Roger McGough, comes to the Oxford Playhouse for an evening of informal storytelling with a musical backdrop provided by his long-time friend and collaborator Andy Roberts. Centring on episodes from McGoughs colourful life, recently committed to the printed page in his newly published autobiography Said and Done, the show includes stories of his involvement with the legendary Lily the Pink and Scaffold, as well as his part in writing the script for the Beatles Yellow Submarine film with George Martin. The Liverpool-born poet also recounts his meetings with Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Marlon Brando, Allen Ginsberg, Pete McCarthy and Salman Rushdie amongst others. Admission 10, children 5. Show starts at 17.00.
