Strangers to Citizens: The Irish in Europe 1600-1800.
The 400th anniversary of The Flight of the Earls is celebrated by exploring over 200 years of Irish migration to mainland Europe in this exciting exhibition illuminated by legend, treasure, manuscript and genealogy. While everyone in Ireland knows of the tragedy surrounding the mass emigration during the the Great Famine (1847-1849) few are aware of the highly successful careers carved out by illustrious Irish emigrants on the continent over the preceding centuries.
