16-17 Sept 2006. Londons biggest free festival for all the family takes place on the south side of the river between Westminster and Tower Bridge. There is a Riverside Market with over 250 stalls stretching from the London Eye to City Hall plus more than 100 street acts including street theatre, buskers, open-air dance performances, puppet theatre, installations, pavement art and more. The festival culminates in a spectacular Night Carnival on the evening of 17 Sept; groups and artists including Fox Carnival Band, Lumina, Paraiso School of Samba and the Coventry Godiva Carnival depart from Victoria Embankment by Waterloo Bridge and proceed eastwards, crossing the Thames at Blackfriars Bridge. The festival closes with fireworks fired from a barge moored mid-stream between Waterloo and Blackfriars Bridge at 21.45. Admission free. Daily 12.00-22.00.
