21 July - 25 September 2010. When 'The Plough and the Stars' was first presented to the public in the Abbey Theatre in 1926, the audience rioted, such was the sensitive nature of the play's contents.
Now regarded as a masterpiece, it has become synonymous with the Abbey. Set against the backdrop of Dublin's Easter Rising in 1916, this is both a love story and a tragedy, and is at times heartbreaking, hilarious and disturbing.
