30 Jan-13 May 2007. Nearly 70 works by Jacopo Comin, known as Tintoretto (1518/9-1594), are on show in this major exhibition devoted to the Venetian maestro at the Museo Nacional del Prado. Bringing together artworks in all the principal genres, this exhibition is the first of its kind since 1937 when a monographic exhibition dedicated to Tintoretto was held in Venice. Religious narrative paintings, the field in which Tintoretto produced his greatest works, are given special prominence in the Prado exhibition which includes loans from leading European and American museums and institutions.
