7 May-11 Aug 2008.The Centre Pompidou displays 350 major works including paintings, sculptures, installations and videos, some of which never shown in France before, by 200 international artists. Following an imaginary journey through the history of art of the 20th century, from Friedrich to Kandinsky, from Malevitch to Picasso, from Barnett Newman to Bill Viola, this event explores the way in which, in a completely secular world, art continues to renew itself, expressing through different forms the irrepressible human need for spirituality, trying to answer to the never ending metaphysical questions.
