9 Nov-28 Dec 2008. The Berlin-based artist Via Lewandowsky created this technical sound-installation, entitled Applause, which reflects on the role of art in society. His work consists of 96 loudspeakers, which diffuse sound in 11 exhibition rooms to create the illusion of a large audience applauding an invisible presentation. From a central computerized system the recordings of the applauding audience are looped one at a time, doubled and played in different length, ebbing and rising like a symphony.
