7 - 10 May 2009. The annual Vienna Fair, a public art exposition, focuses on the work of over 1,000 rising stars of the artworld as well as promoting 124 galleries from 18 countries. With its comprehensive programme of discussions examining current artistic trends, it addresses the bleak reality now faced by many galleries in the face of the greatest global threat to contemporary art ever seen. On hand to analyse these issues and more is New York Times art critic, Michael Kimmelman. However, the fair is far from being "doom and gloom" - it offers a collective glimpse at some of the best art being produced in the world today.
