16-17 Sept 2005.

This 24-hour literature festival hosts some of Austrias finest authors, many of whom will give live readings. In a specially-erected tent in front of the Burgtheater, writers will read from their works around the clock on Friday and Saturday. German-language classics will line up alongside new works, as authors narrate, answer questions and mingle among their readers. At the same time, publishers will display and promote new books. Since winning the Financial Times Business and the Arts Award in 1996, the festival has become one of the most important events of its kind in Europe. Admission: Free
