Visceral: The Living Art Experiment

28 January - 25 February 2011. This controversial and provocative exhibition is not for the faint-hearted. Visceral comprises artworks which have been created from living tissue and is the result of ten year's work by SymbioticA, an Australian-based artistic laboratory dedicated to the research, learning and engagement with the life sciences.

Exploring the boundaries between fine art and biotechnology, the exhibition tests the limits the ethical and artistic implications of "life manipulation". Curated by Oron Catts and Ionat Zurr, it includes 15 works by ten artists including Abhishek Hazra, Boo Chapple, Kathy High, Lisa Goldberg and Perdita Phillips. Suitable for visitors over the age of 15.
