Vondelpark summer festival.

4 June-29 Sept 2006. Free entertainment for young and old is on offer over summer in Amsterdams central Vondelpark, with cabaret, dance, theatre and music from hip hop to classical. Highlights include Portuguese fado singer Maria de Ftima (23 July), the Summer Breeze Latin Festival of samba, salsa and tango (30 July), African sounds with Atongo Zimba and Jimmy Omonga (6 Aug) and Scapino Ballet Rotterdam (18 Aug). Childrens theatre performances are presented three times weekly (Weds 13.30 & 15.30, Sat 15.00). On Fri nights (28 July-29 Sept) the Filmmuseum presents the Sunsets 2006 season of classic films at its open-air cinema in the park, including Woody Allens Zelig (4 Aug), Orson Welles The Third Man (25 Aug), Jaques Tati in Mr Hulots Holiday (1 Sept) and Steven Spielbergs Duel (15 Sept).
