1-4 June 2006. The 25th edition of the annual Copenhagen Carnival and street parade is in the Flledparken, one of the largest parks in the Danish capital, for three days of music and festivities. The all-female Cuban band Mena y Eyeife Band opens the carnival on 1 June at 20.00 in the only event requiring a ticket. There are seven themed stages: Brazil, with samba and capoeira shows; Havana, featuring the salsatheque and Cuban rhythms; Sambadrome, an outdoor stage which will also host the grand finale concert and fireworks; Jambo, for African music from traditional to high-life and hip-hop; Global. featuring world and acoustic music; a childrens stage; and a Ballroom stage hosting theatrical events and pop music. 3 June is the big samba street parade, which runs from Kgs. Nytorv to Rdhuspladsen (the City Hall Square). Admission free. Concert 1 June Dkk138. 2-4 June 11.00-24.00.
