2 April-17 May. Andalusian painter Rafael Zabaleta is acknowledged as having been to the forefront of Spain's second avant-garde movement. Born in Quesada in 1907, like many artists Zabaleta spent time living in Paris but his love of his home town stayed with him. Not only did he return to Quesada but it was to remain his painterly subject matter until his death in 1960. Over the course of his life he painted the town and its residents in the frequently changing artistic styles of the time, including the cubist, fauvist and expressionist movements, all of which can be viewed in this exhibition. CaixaForum is a prominent cultural centre in Barcelona and offers an endless stream of musical, literary and artistic events. Admission is free.
