17 Sept- 31 Oct 2009. Canadian artist Mike Swaney's preferred medium is an eclectic and colourful mix of collage and paint. His work often features abstract faces and figures, as well as distorted architectural themes, and contains a retro pop art feel reminiscent of David Hockney's work from the 1960s. In 2007 he transformed the Iguapop gallery into an anthropological museum and filled it with artefacts from a fictitious past civilization. Born in British Columbia, Swaney studied fine arts and graphic design. He was a founding member of the Vancouver Art Collective "Human Five" (2001-2008) and now lives and works in Barcelona.
